Fix the Decline in Parks and Community Spaces

The borough’s character is shaped by its parks, green spaces, shopping parades, high streets, community facilities, and heritage buildings. These are the places people use every day — yet too many are being neglected, run down, or quietly put at risk through under-investment or short-term decisions.

We will oppose the sell-off of valued community assets and work to reverse the decline in our parks, open spaces, civic buildings, and local shopping parades. Parks and green spaces should be safe, well-maintained, and welcoming for everyone, with good-quality amenities. Investing early in upkeep avoids higher repair costs later and helps protect these spaces for future generations.

We will support local “friends of” groups, volunteers, and community organisations who already do so much to care for these places, and make sure their voices are heard when decisions are taken. Local people must have a genuine say in how money is spent and how neighbourhoods are shaped across the borough.

We will also push for meaningful regeneration of Bromley Town Centre — tackling long-term empty units, improving public spaces, supporting local businesses, and bringing more life back to the high street. Regeneration must work for residents and businesses, not just developers.

A thriving town centre also depends on good transport connections. Bromley South Station plays a key role, but current overcrowding and poor-quality facilities hold the area back. We will prioritise investment in the station to improve capacity, accessibility, and the overall experience, helping to attract businesses, jobs, and new homes to the area.
