Fix Our Streets and Roads
Too many residents feel unsafe or frustrated on Bromley’s streets — whether they are walking to the shops, driving, cycling or taking children to school. Liberal Democrats believe everyone should be able to get around safely and confidently, and that starts with streets designed around people, not just traffic.
We will continue our work with residents to identify and get action on dangerous crossings, speeding hotspots, rat-runs, and poorly designed junctions, and push for practical, evidence-based improvements. That includes safer routes to schools and stations, better crossing points and junctions that work properly for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers alike.
We scrutinise the councils approach to highways repairs and make the case for a long-term approach to road maintenance, fixing potholes and pavements properly instead of relying on repeated short-term patching. Poor pavements hit older residents, disabled people, and parents with buggies hardest, and we will keep pressing until they are treated as a priority.
We will also press Transport for London to cut congestion on main routes, phase traffic lights effectively, improve bus reliability, and reduce pollution. Clean air matters — especially around schools and busy roads — and we will support measures that improve air quality and protect public health.
