Fix Barriers to Accessible Local Services

Too many residents are finding it harder to access the services they rely on — whether that’s getting a GP appointment, finding an NHS dentist, or using council services that assume everyone is online. For some residents, even everyday tasks like parking have become more difficult, following the removal of pay-and-display machines and the move to app-only systems, which can create barriers for people who are less confident online or do not have access to smartphones.

Liberal Democrats believe services should be built around people, not systems. We will campaign for quicker GP appointments and fair access to NHS dentists, raising local concerns consistently and publicly until action is taken. Health services should meet local need, and Bromley residents deserve their fair share.

We will also work to remove barriers facing disabled residents, older people, families, carers, and those who are digitally excluded. That means accessible buildings, clear and easy-to-understand information, non-digital options where they are needed, and services that reflect how people actually live their lives.

Accessibility must be considered from the start, not added as an afterthought. Every council decision should consider its impact on accessibility and inclusion, particularly for more vulnerable groups. Liberal Democrats will challenge approaches that make services harder to use and will work to ensure local services remain genuinely accessible to everyone in our community.
