The consultation period relating to the new Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for Orpington ends next Friday 1st July. Bromley Liberal Democrats have submitted our formal response, you can read the full response here.
The SPD will not change planning laws or Bromley's Local Plan but it provides special guidance in relation to the interpretation of such rules for development proposals in the Orpington area. It is particularly significant at the moment in view of the pending planning decisions for Areli's plans for Orpington Town Centre.
The SPD is wideranging. Our main point is that it should not be adopted in a way that allows or encourages high rise development proposals. We are therefore looking for changes to paragraph 6.4 of the SPD. Time is now short but we would strongly encourage members of the public to support our comments or submit comments of their own (any relevant thoughts will do).
