Suraj Gandecha is the Liberal Democrat candidate in the Crystal Palace by-election which is taking place on 6th May following the resignation of a councillor.
A liberal voice is needed on Bromley Council, and Suraj Gandecha is the person to represent these values.
When Suraj was looking for his first home with his partner a couple of years ago he discovered Crystal Palace and fell in love.“ I found a magnificent green space with a rich cultural history, a diverse community who support each other and the amazing variety of independent local businesses”.
Suraj, a pension consultant, believes that strong diverse communities are the heart and soul of a neighbourhood. “To bring about the best change in a neighborhood, you must get out and talk to local people, make an extra effort to find out the needs of those who may not have the loudest voice, and take on board what the community are telling you. This doesn’t seem to happen much as far as Bromley Council is concerned.”
The way that local community, business and volunteer groups stepped up during the pandemic has been extraordinary. Suraj, himself a member of St Christopher’s compassionate neighbour scheme, believes the local community has been magnificent throughout the crisis and should be at the heart of our post-Covid recovery. “As a Crystal Palace Councillor, I will make sure our diverse community is truly represented.”
Suraj Gandecha will campaign for:
- Clean air through reduced congestion, more active travel and proper air quality monitoring.
- Protecting our green spaces in the best interest of the community.
- Support for local businesses and reimagining our high streets in the post-Covid recovery and post Brexit.
- Community led change, where local people are listened to and can have a say.
“I want to represent the people of Crystal Palace as I believe that a young fresh voice is needed to challenge the shortcomings of Bromley Council in supporting the local community. The Tory majority needs to be held to account and reminded that they should be supporting everyone in our borough, not just those who vote for them. I will ensure a voice is given to the future generations of Crystal Palace and that Crystal Palace - and all parts of Bromley and the rest of the capital - moves forward not backwards.”
In Crystal Palace, vote for Suraj Gandecha for a candidate to represent all residents on May 6th.
