Climate action cannot wait

The Liberal Democrats have a plan for a green recovery, creating jobs, cutting energy bills and tackling the climate emergency.

The Liberal Democrats are calling for real action now - to help tackle the climate emergency facing our planet.

Ahead of COP26, they have unveiled a ‘Green Recovery Plan’, which would see £150billion invested in the fight against climate change.

The Lib Dem proposals would not only help save the environment, but would also help cut energy costs for households across the UK and create thousands of new green jobs.

Lib Dem leader Ed Davey MP said: “This is the time to take this issue seriously. Yet the Conservative Government is delaying climate action and the Prime Minister still can’t make up his mind whether he cares about the climate or not. The Lib Dems have a real plan, creating jobs and tackling the climate emergency.”

The Lib Dem ‘Green Recovery Plan’ would:

Help save our countryside - increasing the amount of protected green space, and planting 60 million more trees.
We're working hard to preserve Open Spaces here in Bromley.

Tackle fuel poverty - ‘greening’ every home by 2030, improving insulation and saving home owners' money.

Invest in public transport - increasing bus routes, investing in electric vehicles and re-opening railway lines.
We're calling for a coherent strategy for transport in Bromley.

Improve air quality - promoting cycling and walking, get the right to unpolluted air protected in law and introduce more ultra-low emission zones.
We're demanding better monitoring of air quality, and safer streets to encourage active travel.

More renewable energy - investing in off-shore wind, removing restrictions on solar power and supporting communities to develop local electricity.
