Bromley have been one of slowest boroughs to pay the government-funded grants for small businesses.
Figures from the Federation of Small Businesses show that while a third of London Boroughs have already distributed 70% of the funds provided, Bromley are ranked 4th worst in London having distributed less than half of the funds.
The Chancellor has arranged grants packages that pay £10,000 for businesses whose premises have a rateable value of less than £15,000 or get small business rate relief. For those in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors with rateable values of £15,000 to £25,000, they can claim £25,000.
With so many small businesses facing impossible demands on their cash flow these grants are a lifeline and they've been welcomed. But the responsibility is with the councils to distribute the money and we call on Bromley Council to make sure they get the money out to these small businesses before it's too late.
