Bromley Liberal Democrats are a local party of the national Liberal Democrats, with its own constitution, bank accounts and committee structure. All members who join the national party and who live in the London Borough of Bromley automatically become members of the Bromley party.
The local party's committee structure is as follows:
Executive Committee - this is the committee that controls the general and financial business of the local party, able to make decisions about the activities of the party but also able to delegate authority to other sub committees. The membership of the Executive Committee is made up of the party's officers (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Officer and Data Officer), plus representatives from the 3 parliamentary constituencies, ordinary members and other coopted members.
Finance and General Purposes Committee - chaired by the Treasurer, this committee looks after the financial affairs of the party, and jointly manages the property at 7 Station Road, Orpington (including the 1st floor flat) with officers of the Orpington Liberal Club.
Campaign Committee - this committee plans and organises political campaigns across the borough, for elections to the local authority, London Assembly, Parliament and the European Parliament. Responsibilities include social media, email contact, leaflet design and distribution, council monitoring and liaison with other local parties and London Region.
Membership, Events and Fundraising Committee - this committee manages contact with all our members but particularly the new members; organises events (not all of which are fund raisers) across the borough.
We have a vacancy for a representative of the Bromley and Chislehurst constituency on the Executive Committee.
Our success in the European Elections has over-stretched the current committee members in Membership and Campaigns - so we are planning to expand the membership of both. If you'd like to come along to the next meeting to see how they work please email firstname.lastname@example.org
