New bins for Anerley

Bromley council has agreed to provide additional bins for Anerley after a concerted campaign by local residents and Liberal Democrat councillors.

After a year-long fight, new bins are to be provided along Anerley Hill, Hamlet Road and Maberley Road, which suffer particularly from litter.

Bromley's Street Services department has promised campaigners and local councillors that the bins would be in place by Christmas.

In addition, Cllr Tom Papworth has asked that bins be provided by all the bus stops along Anerley Road and recycling at Crystal Palace Station.

If you know of an area where there is a particular litter problem and believe that it could be solved by providing a bin, you can phone street services on 020 8313 4621 or write to us at crystal.palace@bromleylibdems.org.uk

Consultation on 417 bus route

Transport for London are consulting on bus routes including the 417 from Clapham to Crystal Palace. If you wish to make any comments on this route you can email STEngagement@tfl.gov.uk or write to Stakeholder Engagement, Surface Transport Communications, TfL, 11th Floor, Zone B2, Palestra, London SE1 8NJ.

Planning appeals

Lib Dem councillors and local residents scored a victory over developers in November when an appeal by the owners of 39 Selby Road was thrown out.

The owners built a huge extension without planning permission and have filled it with new tenants. However, the appeal adjudicator agreed with Bromley's planning department that the illegal build would have to come down.

Meanwhile, two other developers whose plans had been thrown out by Bromley Council have lodged appeals against the decisions.

The developers of the Anerley School for Boys site between Versailles Road and Madeleine Road have appealed against the Council's refusal to allow them to build on Metropolitan Open Land behind their existing site. The hearing will be held at Bromley Civic Centre on 24 and 25 February 2009.

The advertising hoarding that developers want cited at 2 Anerley Hill is also subject to an appeal but no date has yet been announced.
