Broomleigh's revised plan for building a block of eight flats at the corner of Dorset and Maberley Roads has been approved.

Speaking at the Plans Hearing, Clockhouse Councillor Reg Adams pointed out that this site hosts a substantial population of the "anguis fragilis" (slow-worm), a protected species.

Thanks to his intervention, a special condition was written into the planning approval that the developers must take special care not to destroy these reptiles and must relocate them if necessary.

Another special condition was written in to ensure the rights of way of allotment holders at all times.
