In October the Liberal Democrats

launched their Green Tax Switch campaign. Our aim is to reduce income taxes and tax pollution instead.

Presently the Government takes too much tax off the incomes of hard working people. The Liberal Democrats will reduce income tax by 2p in the pound and increase the amount people can earn before they have to pay any tax. This will mean everybody an keep more of their money, especially those on the lowest incomes.

Tom Papworth said "It's crazy to tax people for working hard. We should use the tax system to discourage bad things, like pollution, while encouraging people to work hard by making sure they can keep as much of their wages as possible so as to enjoy themselves and make their lives better."

Penge residents clearly agree: in one morning, local Lib Dem activists in

Penge High Street collected well over 100 signatures on a petition calling on the Government to adopt the Lib Dem policy of reducing income tax and

taxing pollution instead.
