Lib Dems Launch Crime Survey in Bromley & Chislehurst

10.15.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 30th May 2006

Bromley Liberal Democrats have launched a comprehensive crime survey following Sir Menzies Campbell MPs keynote speech on crime.

Crime figures across the Borough of Bromley have increased including a massive increase in robbery and burglary.

Local Conservatives have recently blocked Lib Dem proposals for street wardens in Bromley who would have worked alongside Police and Police Community Support Officers in cutting down crime.

Sir Menzies Campbell MP, Leader of the Liberal Democrats said: "Crime is the number one issue facing the people of Bromley & Chislehurst today.

"This Government has failed local people when it comes to crime. It is only the Liberal Democrats who will fight and stand-up for local people's rights.

"I am delighted that Bromley Lib Dems are organising this local crime survey. Too often Labour talks tough on crime and fails to act. The Liberal Democrats are putting local people first not spin and headlines."
