Phone Mast Victory

2.40.47pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 24th Oct 2005

Grace Goodlad

After extensive lobbying from residents' groups and Liberal Democrat Environment Spokesperson, Cllr Grace Goodlad, the secret placement of phone masts on lamp posts around the Borough has been stopped.

Cllr Goodlad, who has opposed the siting of phone masts on lamp posts every time the matter has been raised in Council meetings, is delighted at the news ; "Thank goodness common sense has won out. The residents of the Borough do not want phone masts hidden on every lamp post on every street corner".

Cllr Goodlad continued " I have been gravely concerned that Tories planned to sell the health of our residents to patch up the holes in their budget for next year, and I am relieved that we have managed to block this plan as well as plans for illuminated signs on lamp posts which will make Bromley look scruffy and untidy as well as causing a road safety hazard."
