Bexley & Bromley Liberal Democrat Greater London Assembly Spokesman Duncan Borrowman is calling upon Bexley and Bromley councils to emulate Lib Dem controlled Southwark's pioneering partnership approach to tackling crime; which has been strengthened with the unique appointment of a serving Metropolitan Police officer to head up Community Safety in the borough.

Superintendent Adrian Rabot has been seconded to Southwark Council to take up the new post of Head of Community Safety. He will have overall responsibility for co-ordinating the council's community safety activity in Southwark including issues such as street crime, drugs, anti social behaviour, hate crime and youth crime. And he will work closely with sections such as the Youth Offending Team, Street Wardens and the Anti Social Behaviour Unit.

Duncan Borrowman, said: " This innovative appointment is yet another demonstration of the Lib Dems genuine commitment to reduce crime through creative and pioneering ways. The Lib Dems recognise that it is only by working together that we can ever achieve the kind of results we demand of ourselves."
